Dashboards are dead.
Plenty of dashboards give you the illusion that you know what your users do. In reality, dashboards take hours to build and you don't have enough hours in a week to check them.
Be kind to yourself, stay small, limit 2 or 3 metrics per project, otherwise they'll pile up. This is the 80/20 rule For instance to run a Saas business like Slack you can understand the product health with just 3 metrics:
1. The # of messages sent — primary metric used as a predictive measure of the performance)
2. The User Retention — secondary metric used to measure past performance)
3. The Customer Churn — health metric used to complement the picture)
